Gunfire Erupts at Howe Park Injures Four People Injured in Sacramento County's Arden-Arcade Neighborhood

Sacramento County deputies are looking into a shooting incident that took place on April 18 2026 at Howe Park as deputies were clearing a large unsanctioned party of several hundred people.

Background

Sacramento County law enforcement initially responded to Howe Park just after half past six in the evening after learning of individuals who may have had concealed firearms. Following that, a follow-up call was made describing a potential altercation happening inside the park.

Aerial units was sent to survey the area but was unable to locate the reported altercation. However, deputies found that hundreds of people had congregated at Howe Park without authorization.

The Moment Gunfire Erupted

Officers moved to clear the area by surrounding the park and announcing over their public address systems telling the crowd to clear out. Around 15 minutes were allowed for attendees to disperse.

While deputies worked to disperse the gathering that 20 to 25 gunshots rang out. The barrage of gunfire sparked chaos as hundreds ran. Deputies quickly moved to locating gunshot victims.

Those Who Were Hit

In total, four people were discovered with shooting injuries. The shooting victims — including a female and three males each apparently in their mid to late twenties — were airlifted or driven to nearby hospitals. These discoveries indicated that a second shooter had been shooting in a southerly direction from the Cottage Way area in the direction of the Home Depot building and parking lot. The Home Depot was put under lockdown while the scene was active. CSI units alongside detectives worked tirelessly throughout the night.

Arrests Made

Information relayed through law enforcement radio communications revealed that a vehicle identified as a Kia was contacted by law enforcement in an area within Solano County. Four people were taken into custody. Sacramento law enforcement were dispatched to Solano County to pick up those detained for further questioning. Footage analyzed by investigators confirmed that two shooters had been involved.
